Job Description

Ultimate Staffing is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead HR operations for an organization of approximately 150 employees. This role will manage a small HR team and partner with leaders across manufacturing, operations, sales, finance, accounting, IT, customer service, marketing, and other departments.

We're looking for a confident, hands-on HR leader who is strong in California & multistate employment law, employee relations, compliance, and manager coaching.

The ideal candidate knows how to coach managers through HR issues rather than simply handling the issues for them. This person should be approachable, resilient, comfortable with strong personalities, and confident working with long-tenured leaders.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a small HR team of 3.
  • Develop and update employee handbooks, HR policies, and procedures.Partner with department managers and senior leadership on HR and employee matters.
  • Coach managers through performance, attendance, communication, and employee relations issues.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and manage sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Manage time and attendance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with California, federal, and applicable multi-state employment laws.
  • Support leaves, accommodations, workers' compensation, and other employee matters.
  • Coordinate Open Enrollment and benefits administration.
  • Oversee onboarding, performance management, employee development, and offboarding.
  • Support recruiting for professional, management, and higher-level positions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee engagement, and retention.
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational needs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR documentation.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience
  • 5+ years of HR leadership/management experience
  • Experience managing and developing an HR team
  • Strong knowledge of California employment law
  • Multi-state HR compliance experience preferred
  • Strong employee relations and investigation experience
  • Experience coaching managers through difficult employee situations
  • Experience writing and updating employee handbooks and HR policies
  • Experience with time and attendance issues
  • Open Enrollment and benefits experience
  • Experience recruiting professional and management-level employees
  • Manufacturing, distribution, or operational environment experience is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Korean language proficiency is a plus
